"The major reason people get offended is from hearing the truth."
personally, i don't agree. the "truth" doesn't bother me; it's lies represented as truth that makes me angry. what about you guys?

There is a significant difference between "truth" and "personal truth" or opinion. I think a large number of people have a hard time differentiating between the two, especially in GWS.
Also, there is an abundance of generalizing that takes place not only here but all over the world for that matter. Our society is sooo over generalized, it's really exasperating. We are taught not to think for ourselves, and to eat everything the media and pop culture feeds us... but that's a different rant, for a different day.

I think sometimes the truth can be harsh, but I don't agree that people always get offended when they hear the truth.
People justify saying something mean or saying their version of the truth by saying quotes like that...

I think what is "truth" to one person, may be fallacious to another. The perception of truth is often subjective.
Talk to ten witnesses at a crime scene, you will get ten very different stories about what happened, yet all are telling the truth as they saw it. So, I would say that the quote is probably spot on...people do become offended from hearing (someone else's) truth.

I don't think I agree. Offense is taken from the manner of another persons speech, actions ...
I can make the truth easy to swallow, depending on how I approach the issue or I can make a simple fact offensive.
If I tell a friend I don't like the way he speaks to women, I have a choice of saying I noticed crudeness has a negative way most women react to him, thus his lack of success in dating or I can say he is a selfish prick who can't be bothered to think before he speaks, therefore most women think it not worth their time to bother w/ a lowlife.

Truth can actually be different things to diffrent people. Websters defines truth as :
: the state of being the case : fact (2): the body of real things, events, and facts : actuality (3)often capitalized : a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality b: a judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true c: the body of true statements and propositions
3 a: the property (as of a statement) of being in accord with fact or reality bchiefly

If someone states a factually incorrect 'truth' then I just dismiss them as misinformed.

People do get angry when they've been proven wrong. They're often the ones trying to turn lies into truth.

Actually, the main reason I get offended usually has more to do with delivery and attitude and much less to do with what the person is saying.

First off, there are more than just guys here. Some feminists would get upset at using the term guys.
Truth doesn't bother me as long as it is presented with facts. Beliefs presented as truths are what bother me.

Well, there is always a tactful way to put things, I think - even when you hear the good or ugly truth.
I think the quote is from one of those type people who can, as the cliche goes,"can dish it out but can't take it".
