Start taking them now and then when your doc gives you some just switch over! You should take them as soon as you can!

No, i took over the counter pills until my first doctor visit at 6 weeks. The doctor was glad I have been taking them. Prenatals are full of good vitamins...it makes sure that you are giving the baby the right stuff that you cant always get just out of what you normally eat during the day. Take them but dont buy a big bottle. They will prescribe you DHA pills when you go for your visit.

Not only is your mom incorrect in saying you should wait to get them from your doctor.... but I also think you should NOT take the vitamins he prescribes to you. More than likely, the prenatal pills he'll give you are cheap and synthetic. Find your own natural prentatal vitamins, and start taking them right away!

Sweetie, you can take them as soon as you find out you are pregnant. Even before you become pregnant, it's OK. I'm trying for another baby and I'm taking them because it gives your body everything it needs for a baby (especially if you can become pregnant anytime) so that he/she has what they need right from the start! It's Ok, go ahead and take them. But don't take more than 1 a day because that could harm the baby. And make sure that it has Folic Acid in it too.

No way! Prenatal vitamins are very important, you should start taking them as soon as possible and you do not need a perscribtion for them you can buy them at any pharmacy. I am 31 weeks pregnant I started taking them as soon as I found out I was gonna be a mommy!

thats crazy the sooner the better.(not to call your mom crazy) They wont be harmful at all.
My Dr. actually gave me prenantal vitamins when i got my birth control pills. They said "even though you're not planning on having a baby right now its good to have the extra folic acid and vital nutrients for babies just incase i were to accidentally get pregnant my baby would have the best possible start in life."

You need to take them now! Your baby is doing its most crucial growing during the first trimester and prenatal vitamins give you and the baby the nutrients you need. Prenatal vitamins help lower the risk of your baby having birth defects!

It's best to start taking them before you even try to get pregnant. The folic acid helps prevent neurotube defects like spinabifida, and it needs to be taken the first several weeks sicne that's when the neuro-tube forms. The doctors only prescribe them if their patients aren't taking them yet.

No taking pre-natal vitamins is always good. When I was trying to get pregnant my obgyn told me to start taking pre-natla vitamins before I even get pregnant cause it will prepare your body for the baby and it will help your baby to be healthy. So start taking them as soon as you find out! Congrats on the baby!
