I want the whole transcript of my brothers court case in Kinston, NC in 1992. After ten years they say they dispose of it but there is now way not to get able to get a record of that case. Please help me.

in the legal system- nothing is disposed of. only 'them' from the neck up. go to county clerks office and request a transcript of that case with case number off of the police record- then pay $$$ for the complete copy of the transcript. they even have records dating back to the civil war in some county library's. do not take ???? for an answer.

If it's been purged from the court then the only way will be to find someone who bought a transcript back then, and buy it from him.

Unless there was an appeal, though, no transcript was probably ever written. In the overwhelming majority of cases the court reporters tape just goes into the file and is put away. Once the deadline for filing an appeal is over, there's no reason for the court to keep the records, so they're routinely dumped.

If you can think of a reason why someone else would have requested the transcript before it was destroyed, then you can ask them for a copy.
