I have known people who opt out of vaccines for thier children and I can say I don't get it. It's seems like it is the "in" thing right now to not vaccinate. Vaccines were invented because people where dying and becoming disabled from diseases. Vaccines were a miracle and people were so happy to not have to worry about getting these diseases. Now some people want to go back to the dark ages.
I had my kids immunized and I feel good about doing it. It is in their best interest. I think that parents that opt out are not understanding the seriousness of the diseases that they prevent. These immunizations are the reason we have wiped out those diseases and with so many parents not immunizing, some of these diseases could come back. If they do , it won't be the immunized kids that get them. I think it would be to bad for a child to get a disease that could have been prevented, how foolish.

There is no rock-solid proof that vaccines cause Autism. Doctors and zealots are just grasping at straws because they don't know the cause of so many children being diagnosed with it. I am a nanny for a little boy that was diagnosed as being Autistic, but I think it was misdiagnosed. He doesn't act like other kids with Autism. He will look people in the eye, interact with his little brother, other kids, his parents, etc. I think it is like ADHD. When kids display certain characteristics they are fast to place a label on them instead of wanting to find out what is really going on.

We have oppted not to get vaccines until he's 6 months old. Then he will get only the ones we want him to and only one at a time. Their little immune systems aren't developed until around this time. Also by doing one at a time you can help bring down the adverse affect some of them have on their little bodies. As for those people who say that not having vaccinations is a risk for their families, if they have their vaccinations what are they worried about? Them not working? This is one of those hot subjects right now. It is a families pesonal choice. Do research and decide what is best for your family. A really good web site is:

good luck with your decison.

I opted out of routine circumcision, and I waited longer than "recommended" to get them their first vaccinations because I wanted my babies to be bigger and stronger before getting them. Since they weren't going to be in daycare or around strangers at all, I didn't see the harm in waiting a bit. If I had to do daycare, however, I would have vaccinated because you never know.

Not all of them but some, I don't do chicken pox cause I did with my first one after being bullied by the pediatrician and she got really bad chicken pox a year later, go figure. So I think it's up to you and no one here should be too worried about what you do cause all their kids are vaccinated, right so they won't catch anything(duh)

Mercury and/or vaccines do not cause Autism.

When are people going to get over this?

I know this doesn't answer your question but I saw at least one answer blaming vaccines for autism.

I can't wait for the day one of the talk shows does a POSITIVE piece on autism.

I think skipping the vaccinations will also hinder the child joining school and sports.

I got the flu shot in the hospital after delivery. I think those antibodies go to her too.

I haven't and don't know of anyone that would be that neglectful. The only thing that I have opted out of getting for my son is the flu vaccine because the doctors office was out of the one that didn't contain Thymerosol (proven in cases to cause Autism).

one of the chiropractors my mom works with didn't have his kids vaccinated. but he is a chiropractor, and that would be why. my daughter is up to date on hers, she wouldn't have gotten them at all had she been born a healthy baby, but she was born 14 weeks early.

they don't always protect you from diseases. do some research and see what's in these vaccinations, then maybe you'll think twice about criticizing people who don't get their children vaccinated.
