The way things are moving, India seems all set to become a colony of Western powers (esp. USA) endangering our self-reliance and self-worth. Major political parties have today sold the nation out to foreign investors, NRI's (I don't consider them Indians). This is what we could have learnt from China.
1. One-child rule after 1960's: This would have kept our population balanced, creative and productive. "Democracy" ensured we face an imminent ecological disaster with 1.5 bn people by 2050. China's population is stabilizing now.
2. National language: Hindi along with regional languages should have been promoted for Science and Tech (like in China). Without national language, we face a lack of identity that you experience as an Indian abroad.
3. Space/Nuclear/Missiles: Indian scientists made many indigenous developments up to the 1980' s (just like China) and now, pure science research is in bad shape across the country.
A nation without self-respect won't last the way we see.

We really need our nation back and throw all foreigners out (except for those under student/exchange/tourist visa). We also need eugenics programmes to stabilize and reduce the population.
Our natural allies are China and Russia, not the Western powers. We've exported TENS OF THOUSANDS of scientists, doctors and research specialists to the USA/UK/Europe because of lack of incentive back home. They have helped develop Western powers at our expense.

India is not only becoming self reliant but is making other countries reliant on it.If u see India is venturing in nearly all Industrial feilds.Even in space and defence it is producing home built equipment.India is commercially launching sattelites for other countries.counties like USA are dependent on India for providing labour as well as direct services.this means foriegn inflows for India. BPO industry is in boom in India. Many times foriegn companies buy products made by India firms and sell under their brand names.this all is creating job opportunities in India.Indian skilled labour is going out in these developed countries. Those countries depend on these Indians to sustain a great part of there economy. also foriegn investment in India means there is great inflow of forex for India.that also means that the money of foriegn investors is dependent on Indian economy.
also let me tell u that the one child rule would not be possible in India due to great amount of Illitrecy and also becuz the form of governtment is democratic .India is also a mixed economy.China is a communist state means greater government control.

Indian has with regards to the third-4th best and maximum useful military interior the worldwide. Pakistan is nowhere close to the suitable 10, so whoever thinks Pakistan is on the suitable 10 of the biggest armies interior the worldwide, are idiots. Pakistan many times chooses a nuclear conflict because it had chosen till now till u . s . a . prevented this. Ever considering that then, Pakistan were coming up nuclear bombs reasoning it as 'nationwide protection' however the actual reason replaced into to throw them at India. India has u . s . a ., uk and the the remainder of the united countries on it incredibly is back. although, Pakistan has China, Japan & Russia in the back of it. So that's a confusing question, yet a logical and honest conflict without alliances being braught in or nuclear weapons might propose India might probable win.

We are living on a false base. From childhood we are taught lies. You can not build anything if your foundation is wrong. Whatever you build it will collapse.
First lie is about the population. When all the other countries consider population as strength, we consider population as weakness. In 1950s we didi not have enough food. Now we have food in plenty. Against our population theory ?
We are still afraid of foreigners. We do not want anyone to invest in India. We drove away Enron and many projects which are essential to national growth.
Indian scientists are hippocrats. If they get a chance in US, they will fly away. The space and Nuclear technology is supplied by Russia, we can not be proud of that.
The biggest lie is the democracy. Three percent minority is ruling the 70% majority. It is a pseudo democracy. The minority need not work for the majority.

Perhaps, India has not been able to progress at the same rate as China,we don't have so many gold medals as China has,but still, we are a lot better than China can ever be.
we don't occupy other nations,as china is, has and will continue doing.
we don't force our people to accept somethings we give them a choice.
u should always remember anything that is forced upon is rebelled and if it is give as a choice it is gladly accepted.
in certain respects we could have bettered China, but this is due to the lack of political will and most of all due to the Left parties,i don't know whether u heard, but the left parties were supporting China during the Indo-China war!!!!

India's Biggest strength is its democratic form of goverence, unlike china where there exist a communist/military form of goverence. We have a multilingual, multi cultural multi religion society.Inspite of all this, we boast of a 9 % GDP ,not sure any country can achieve these.
1.One child rule.
We certainly have a excess population. But its now turning out to be a boon to us.We have a highest skilled and unskilled manpower resources in the world.Europe today is facing a manpower crunch and US also will infuture. Our population is youngest of all.Ofcourse we need to have check in ensuring a stable population growth.
2.National Language.India has been IT superpower becasue of our good knowledge of Englisgh language, china lacks in this. The business language all around world is english,so we were right in adopting english as one of the official languages.Yes,as a national language, Hindi should be learnt by all,but there are other important languages too in country,so it cant be forced,Our USP is "Unity in diversity"
3.Yes,pure science is in bad shape because of lack of attractive job opportunities .Government should take this issue seriously.
We are a nation with self-respect.We have not sold ourselves to the foreign investors, but we are actually helping the foreign investors to survive or exist even because of our booming economy and market potential ( which are stagnating in the western world.)
Yes ,there are few good things we can learn from chinese, like their emphaise on infrastructure development, sports.
But they have poor track record in Human rights, industrial safety, fundamental rights, religious tolerance

Bombay, even though some may have their frustrations and objections to for instance someone from teh USA talking to someone in India on like a tech support call or something....
at least India isnt manufacturing pet food that kills pets, toys that are injuring and killing children and things like that.
I feel much more comfortable with the services of India than the products of China that the USA has bought.

I think India should stand up for itself too but I think Russia is as much a threat to India as anyone else. India will be as prosperous as China one day.
