I am a first time mom, and this whole baby thing is a little confusing to me.
I am preparing my registry but i am not sure what type of clothing or things to ask for since I am due in march?

Newborns can't regulate their own temperatures...so just because it's spring time doesn't mean that baby should be dressed in summer clothes...

Generally a baby should be in at least one more layer than you.

If it were me, I'd have them in a onsie and socks and a jersey knit footie sleeper on top of that and a little jersey beanie...AND swaddled in a receiving blanket.

And if it was cold or chilly out, I'd probably do it just the same but with a thicker sleeper like a fleece one and a thicker hat

I never left the nursery without a blanket for the first 4 months of baby's life.

I also advise you to go out and get a few outfits yourself...just so you know that you have the things you need before hand and whatever you get as gifts is just bonus...because let me tell you...in the beginning they spit up and explosive poop so much I was changing my son's whole outfit three times a day...so there's no such thing as having "too much" clothing.

Good Luck!

And Congratulations!

It depends on where you live. Mostly, onesies to wear under clothing in colder climates. I am in the Southwest. I have four kiddos. I would buy the onesies, some soft one pc outfits. Some 2 piece, too...all long sleeve. Socks. Booties, if in a cold climate at that time. ALSO, register for some clothing for the summer! You don't want a ton of newborn...0-3 months..and nothing new for summer. Register for clothing 3-6 mons in the summer. (This depends on the baby's size at birth, too..may need 6-9 months to fit near fall weather, if you have a large baby...8-9 lbs or more..) Register for lots of baby receiving blankets. You will go through a lot as babies spit up on them, wet, etc. You will got through about 10-12 diapers a day for the first few weeks. ASK for diapers! They are the most costly.

I would buy stuff like long sleeve shirts and pants definatly but make sure they are not too thick. By the time summer comes along they should be out of the 0-3 months. My kids always grew out of there clothes before the months were over. Babies are usualy colder than older kids and adults cause they don't regulate there own temperature well. I prefered to by the sleep and plays cause they are versatile and very awsome for little ones. Easy to put on and stay on.

Not sure where you live, but where I live it can still be very cold all throughout March, even into April. I would definitely be prepared with some warm clothing in newborn size. But...you could probably also buy some spring-like things that are a little bigger (like the 3months size) - but in the very beginning I'd imagine you'd need to bundle the little one up.

By that time, I would think that you could catch some good sales on winter clothes. Something snuggly and warm. Tons of onsies. Remember that babies cannot control their body temp. Dress your baby a layer warmer than you are dressed. Bottles, diapers, wipes, blankets. I had my son in 2006 and I did my registry at Target. I asked for anything that I liked. I really lived the Boppy pillow especially around feeding time. Definitly ask for the essentials like the diapers, wipes, blankets, onsies, burp clothes, a bathtub. You cannot go wrong. If you feel like you can use something, put it on. Good Luck!!! Congrats!!

You need a lot of cold-weather stuff. I have had one baby born in March and my third boy is due in March right now. I live in Utah, and it was still quite cold when I brought my first boy home. I would say go for winter clothes in the preemie (if you need it) and newborn sizes. Get winter and spring stuff in the 0-3 month range. Of course if you live in an area where it's really warm you might not need a lot of winter stuff anyway. No matter what, you can layer and add blankets. I loved the carseat covers because they added warmth without worrying about covering his face while outside. Dress your baby in what you would wear plus one layer for the first couple of months. After that, dress him/her in whatever amount of clothing YOU need to be comfortable.

Well if it's cold where you live I would ask for a few things that are long sleeved and such but you're going to want the clothes that he's going to wear in say june and july to be a little cooler so you can ask for some things in size 3-6 months that are for the summer. When he's first born you're just going to have him wrapped up a lot anyway.

It will depend upon what part of the country you live in and what the climate is likely to be at that time. I wouldn't get a lot of anything very small, because babies grow VERY quickly. You can gauge the type of clothing you will need for your baby, by what you would wear, your baby doesn't need any more clothing than you do to be comfortable at a certain temperature. Hope this helps! Congratulations!!!
