There is no certain answer to that question, that's for sure. Maybe, maybe not and definately not in the short term.

I've read some answers highlighting the issue of increased prices at the time of change over in Euro countries. Well wasn't the same complaint made when Britain decimalised it's currency, yet no one is seriously suggesting now, nearly forty years later, we shouldn't have done it and should revert back to the previous set up. Everyone can appreciate the benefits. Sometimes short term pain is in the best interests of long term gain and we shouldn't rule things out simply on the basis of a few months worth of teething problems.

As much as I am open to the UK adopting the Euro I can't realistically see it happening for years and years, if at all.

We the British public are too poorly informed on this issue for people to make informed and well reasoned decisions (not just sentimental ones) on it, that of course only applies if a referendum is held. I don't think the Labour party have the backbone to push through adoption and the Conservatives are dead against.

When the pound is rock bottom, that's when our spineless leaders will craw to the Euro cap in hand. Instead of being there from the start and making policy. The £ has not been an important world currency for decades, you only have to look at the foreign papers money pages, to see.

And you think you're hard up now? Wait until the euro first comes in,the economy crashes.I was living in Europe when it came in and the recession was ridiculous.Expect everything to go up in price and your wages rounded down. It's never recovered from it.I've seen what it does to the economy.
Rent and houses in Holland went up 240%,inflation up 30% and wages rounded down. It's never been the same cos people are alot harder up now then because of that businesses collapse and there's no work about. That's why I had to come back after years of living there and that was the only reason! It has got stronger over the course of afew years but on the whole you're alot harder up now.

May have got afew thumbs down but these are the FACTS of what it will do but I'm getting out the UK so I don't care no more what they do!They will be made to change at some point.

With any luck, never the pound is British, but as our governments are hell bent on destroying every thing that we call British then I am not too optimistic, and one other thing IF we change then the cost of living will rise out of control, in France it is nearly 30% more in the shops in real terms , not the crap that the polatocians say but in the pocket, prices have gone way up since the Euro showed its ugly head

Lets get out of europe before its too late, have you seen the latest shambles in the Human rights court ? Our German friends have suffered for the last eight years with their economy and the immigration there from Turkey and |Russia and some of them are emigrating to get away from the rubbish who are now starting to come to live in northern germany. They didnt want the euro - we should not have it!
