Man, I live in MN and I can honestly tell you there is really no clear cut answer to that. I know that Carl Pohlad (owner) is paying a portion toward the stadium of his own money and I believe the rest of the state is paying for the rest via taxes, budget costs, etc. In all honesty, I think there is a sense that Carl Pohlad will either be A) dead by 2010 or B) will sell the team.

The stadium issue has been a strenous one that's been on-going since the mid 90's. The Metrodom lease is up in 2011 and it's either the risk of losing the team, or get a new stadium.

Carl Pohlad is an owner with a lot of money that puts profitability from baseball operations ahead of winning. The new stadium will have all of the new amenities and should generate a considerable amount of additional revenue and I would like to think he will make every effort to improve his team for the fans. I really have no clue why he is not willing to keep Santana for the fans in the new ballpark and he very likely will wind up shooting himself in the foot with his decisions.
