not from here and yet you are an expert how? It really depends on if you are talking about in the city or outside of the city. I am from the mountains of NC and I moved here for school so, I have to say the atmosphere is def. different. I am assuming you are asking about the social "atmosphere" but please correct me if I am wrong. There are alot of nice people but more rude people. The crime rate is only high in the low income parts of town and even then it is blown way out of proportion by other people. There is alot of stuff to do and once you get out of the main city people are pretty nice (as long as they are not driving). I personally would not suggest moving here. The nicest people you will meet will be at sports events (esp. Tigers and redwings games). As a city it isnt any worse than any of the other cities as far as cleanliness goes (in my opinion anyway) unless you end up in the wrong part of town :)

many homes are abandon, burned down, and crammed with druggies and homeless. distinctive beggers on the streets interior the guts of the city. Very filthy. distinctive rubbish, and trash everywhere in the roads and throughway. distinctive crime. a number of shootings each day. distinctive medications. I stay 5 miles north of it and force to the city each and each day. Its a foul place, believe me. Detroit is deteriorating. they are demolishing homes that have been abandon and destroyed and we now have a extensive rat venture from those properties being taken down the place they have been breeding continuously. Its a foul place. believe me. And the individuals that decision it domicile are basically as undesirable. i can no longer even stroll from the Comerica Park to Greektown on line casino without being attacked via a bum, or supplied medications. I thank my success that I actual have not been harmed yet. there isn't any longer plenty human beings left to HAVE a character. individuals that proceed to be are the two older, or destructive. the guts of the city would properly be effective, yet that's basically simply by fact there's a police vehicle each and every 500 feet. I shuttle there each and each day. believe me. Its a foul city, and a foul infestation of ineffective, filthy excuses for human beings.

Downtown detroit can be a scary place. But there are places very close by that are really really nice. It all depends on what you are planning on doing when you are there. I've lived in CA, MI and now TX and I wouldn't say it is any more crime ridden than any other place I've lived in. Houston is horrible for crime and it is also dirty. CA was the cleanest (streets, area...not the air) that I've lived in but there is also lots of crime there too.

I dont live there but my grandma lives about an hour away and somtimes we drive through there. Its kinda scarry and it has a high violence rate. Its also quite filthy, for all the factories located in the area. I feel bad for the people that live there. Everyone has like bars on the doors and windows. Its actually quite sad if you ask me. And theres always homeless people walking around. Its sad and depressing.

The atmosphere is pretty much the same as elsewhere, 78% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, trace amounts of other gases, and a variable amount (average around 1%) of water vapor.

Wait, did you mean something else

That depends on what atmosphere you're referring to. Is it the weather or the aura of the city?
