What do you think of the Mafia? And what you think of The Godfather movie?

Love the movie but the Mafia were mostly just stupid goons that ratted each other out all the time. There wasn't really the code of honor and ethics that the movie portrayed

I grew up in Newark and knew some of the mobsters. In fact one of the boys in my class in fifth grade lost his mobster father when he was gunned down in his driveway. They used to pretty much just hang around in neighborhood "social clubs". There were some colorful nick names and some interesting characters but for the most part there was nothing like I have seen portrayed on TV or in Movies.

Of course I would not have been privy to the upper echelons. I only knew a few on the lower level. I did meet two that were somewhat important. I only can tell this because when they used to ask someone to "do them a favor" everyone always reacted immediately. But both of these guys were also owners of legitmate businesses. If these guys had nick names no one ever used them. They were always called only by their first names or fist name and last initial like Joe D.

I was young and mostly knew their kids. Most of their kids were spoiled brats.

Depends on what mafia youre talking about. I think the movies are great. They're classic.

Violent movies, didn't care for them and made Italians (in general) look bad. The Mafia has brought crime, death, fean and corruption into the world. Need I say more?
