"While he may have earned the right to do this to us once, I don't know if he has earned the right to do it twice." Not an exact quote, just how I remembered it but there was some animosity there for sure. It would appear that Burke's stance has changed a little from the whole "Take all the time you need. We will welcome you back with open arms."
Anyways, is it remotely possible that Niedermayer is the one who gets shipped out? I heard a rumbling that he would be much happier back on the East Coast where there is less travel, maybe he would continue his career in that scenario as well. If so, he could have a high value to an Eastern team and Anaheim could get a good package. Unlikely and pure speculation but sometimes where there is smoke, there is fire. Possible?

Snoop- NJ is very interesting. They might be able to just wiggle him in below the cap-I would be close though. I suppose if you factored a little salary going back the other way then it could work.

I read the quote, and it sounds like a guy who's just sick of the whole situation getting to the point it did. As for Scott Niedermayer, how about New Jersey? Yes, Lou is cheap, but what would be finer than an experienced blueliner who, wait for it....KNOWS THE SYSTEM! The Devils need leadership (sorry, but Patrik Elias is about as much captain material as Alexei Yashin) badly, and what a perfect way for Scott Niedermayer to finish his career.

I think if you watch a lot of the video clips from mid June until now you'll see a slight scowl every time Burke talked about it. It's one thing to give Selanne all the time he needs...he's not under contract - he isn't handcuffing you.
Scott was a different story. You paid a lot for this guy, and in a salary cap world every penny helps.
I can see Burke (being the no-nonsense **** disturber that he is) dealing Niedermayer. There are a lot of teams that can afford to take on the remaining two years of the contract - but at the same time, any team that deals for him is going to want some sort of guarantee that next year Scott will be in their lineup.
This is also the type of thing that could put Teemu selanne back into a Duck uniform.

I doubt given how the ducks have played this year. However I can understand Burke's frustration, in the cap era you can't operate not knowing if you have 7 million of extra salary or not. Plus how do you replace a 7 million dollar player and keep the cap room available in case he wants to come back.
Niedermayer has not done Burke any favors, and Burke does need to get Perry signed before Lowe takes a shot at him next off season

Interesting quote. I would love to see the Isles get him. They could certainly use his help on the PP, both offensively and defensively (gave up 2 SH last night). The cap space is there. BUT I don't think the Islanders really have anything to offer the Ducks that can help Anaheim immediately and I don't want to see them yet again mortgage their future to acquire a player near the end of his career just to finish 8th and get knocked out in the 1st playoff round...... again.

I can see any number of teams that would take him. Teams like the Rangers, Maple Leafs, and Red Wings come to mind immediately. And Snoop makes a great case for New Jersey. I can't rule out the Islanders or Capitals either.

Or is it smoke and mirrors? Burke acts like he's not happy but all the while he has this worked out. Teams will do an awful lot to win and Burke strikes me as being a lot like Bill Belichek.

Never Heard it, didn't even hear any rumblings on neids wanting to play in East again.
(unless I misunderstood the txt I received) I think he does want to play still, Hey devils could use him still...(but now that we've gelled so nicely not sure if I want to lose
(even players I still haven't accepted yet)
anyone on the team
but as long as we wouldn't ahve to give up say Jansen, Clarkson, Pelley (which more likely we'd have to give up a prospect or 2 I'm sure I'd rather give up a draft choice or 2 & would be willing to part w/ oduya & mmm well Asham but I think islander boy is starting to get on my good side now.

I don't think Burke would go through all this trouble and then trade him. I can see him trading his brother as revenge. Burke's got quite a temper, and he might have to move a few smaller contracts instead of one bigger one. I wouldn't be too surprised if he did this.

I think he maybe available to other teams, if he hasn't started working the phones already. I don't think he really wants him after all of this. It maybe different if they were hurting in the standings.
