You wouldn't bleed per say, with a serious scalding (and YES it's possible to get a third degree) your skin would simply peel off. The tissue underneath would be thoroughly cooked, essentially dead hence no blood flow. This opens up all sorts of complications.

However later fluids would leach out through the open areas. Scalding is one of the worse injuries you can receive.

No, you don't bleed.

Different burn types look different. Scalding water would probably cause a first to second degree burn, which would make the skin red (1st degree) or cause blisters (2nd degree). The blisters could pop open and ooze pus, which might look pink if it gets blood cells caught up in it, but it isn't actually blood.

I don't think you could get a third degree burn from being scalded with hot water. I think direct contact with a flame or extremely hot air or metal would be the only things hot enough to cause this type of burn.

Bleeding only occurs if there is a puncture wound that disrupts the vasculature. The fluids may be the fluids from the lymphatic system or the components of the extracellular matrix of the damaged tissues.

I should know am thing about burns, since I have had 2nd degree burns twice on my hand.

No you do not bleed, but if bad enough you will peel, and that in itself really hurts. There is a special burn cream you can get by your doctor called silverdeen burn cream(sp).

minor burns don't tend to pierce the skin immediately, so there's no way for the blood to get out. major burns tend to cauterise the wound (seal it) so there's not much blood flow there either..
