These 2 guys are out of a job for now and need some extra cash. Im not sure how much construction gets paid. They need to dig a hole about 3 feet across and 6 feet long. The ground is already soft so no roots.

Really depends on where you are, and/or if they are professionals or just general labor.

General labor can be any where from $8.00/Hr per person to $20.00/Hr per person.

Professional labor can be anywhere from $20.00/Hr per person to $100.00 per hour per person.

But if you haven't offered any "Hourly" cost, give them a project cost. How deep by the way? A few feet down should only take a few hours. I would say $50.00.

Your only going a couple feet deep, no concern for wires , pipes and town rules. I hope you put a liner in to hold the water. They need the work for money and you want to help. Well handy man stuff. Don't let any one fool you. $10 per man hour supervised some what by you. If they are out of work . Usually an employer don't let his best men go. So beware and watch them.

Regardless of the labor costs, or how deep you intend on digging, you might be facing huge fines if you have not obtained zoning permits for your project! Consult your local county clerk or town hall or zoning commission, etc.

And don't forget to find out if there are any electric, gas, water, sewer, etc, lines beneath the ground you intend to remove. Check the front pages of your telephone book; it's usually a free service (depending on where you live, it may be called "Miss Utility" or "Dig Safe" or something like that; if you can't find it, call any of your utility companies (not the satellite-based TV and cellphone companies) and they should be able to give you the answer).

P.S. I won't ask who you are going to bury. ;)
