I don't know if I'm supposed to just add people or if it's better to e-mail them first?

I usually email an announcement to a new contact after adding them just to let them know who I am and why I have added them just to be polite. If they choose not to accept my invite, ( or vice-versa) that is their (my) option and it can be politely declined.

definitely, i've got in uncomplicated terms added one or 2 people as a dash. something of them have merely added me. And no, i did no longer e mail them because of the fact most of the persons on Y!A save their e mail addresses inner maximum.

Nope, I just click add this contact! I think Yahoo! lets you know by e-mail someone wants to be your contact!

I normally add first and then send email or IM.At times, I do send emails to some without adding 'em to my list of friends.You apply your discretion....no harm in doing that so long as you are polite in writing an email.

A lot of people don't allow messages so you just have to decide if their questions and answers are interesting enough, maybe they will contact you later.

Depends on the sitiuation of meeting them, if its in a chat then no, if its someone you have known awhile I'd email them be like hey Im using messenger, lets talk there, that sort of thing. :)

No. If something about their answer or question peeks my interest, I will add them. If they add me, Great. If not, no Biggie.

If they ask to be emailed first...then it's best to respect their wishes. If they didn't ask...then I just add or they just add me.
