Snarky: Nice way of avoiding the question entirely. Talk about tangents.

Alright this is the last time I am answering any questions regarding this poor excuse for scholarship. This list is indicative of the very stereotypes that feminism says it wishes to eliminate. So it is with irony that such a list is written by a Women Studies professor who probably claims to be tolerant. It is indicative of and disseminates an air of prejudice. With the intent of informing, the list, instead, creates a hostile environment under which men are relegated to the level of oppressor. However, such blanket statements are not proven by the mere existence of such a list nor are they proven by the author herself. Ultimately the author engages in circular reasoning and commits the same error as a mentally ill patient who accuses the therapist of mental illness. Self-deception and self-dillusions don't help the gender debate nor does spreading anti-male stereotypes. Any sincere search for the truth would be better starting with proven methods of finding it. Instead the lists begins in the realm of opinion and ends up somewhere near sexism.

some of those are ridiculous...

since when are women "expected to be 20-40 lbs underweight"... Do you know how much 40 lbs is ? I don't think your average woman is "expected" to look like a stickfigure runway model. Perhaps 20-40 lbs lighter than what your standard obese person actually is, but not 20-40 lbs lighter than what would be considered healthy or ideal.

I'm not going to go into how many of them were wrong; but this list seems to be less "priviledges" as it is a "lack of negatives that get applied to women"... men are basically the default position, and then it describes something that would probably be a negative social standard applied to women.

Some are true the rest are greatly over exagerated sounds like something written by a woman who has had bad experiences with men. If the list was compiled by a man it would be different.

Anyone who has ever heard the expression, "this is a man's world," should be able to see 2 things:

1. Women have to fight for rights and equality.

2. Men don't know what it's like to fight for their own rights, so they should just be thankful for what they have and try to understand a woman's point of view.

And yes, women also have expectations put on them to display emotional and physical strength. This is today's woman surviving in the world, and she cannot (and shouldn't have to) solely rely on a man to support her and/or any kids involved - especially with dead-beat dads at an all-time high. Still, the men haven't lost any "priviledges." And yes, women must be self-reliant, independent and able to bring home the bacon and handle those repairs at home. This isn't 1912!

1/3 total B.S., 1/3 have a kernel of truth (but nowhere near as much truth as the statement implies), 1/3 are right on.

I think for the most part those assumptions are fair. There are of course, exceptions to the rule, but largely I believe they are accurate.

Did the person who wrote that one ever do one on women or is the feminism one posted elsewhere the only one of its kind? The one who wrote the feminism one was combative, in my opinion.

Thanks.

here's the woman's privilege list

1. I can go on a date without having to pickup the check
2. car insurance and life insurance are less
3. If I'm discriminated against because of my gender I have an organization I can go to.
4. I can get even my boss fired with a false accusation of sexual harassment
5 I can be a nice person without being labeled a woos
6. I wont get judged negatively by my job or lack thereof.
7 If I'm educated I'm much less likely to be underemployed
8 I can find a man and live off him
9 I don't have to lift weights to look in shape
10 I'm far more likely to be believed by the police
11. I can be friendly at work and don't have to avert my eyes with the opposite sex because of fear of sexual harassment
12. I can choose if I want to get married.
13. I can legally be verbally abusive toward men.

This list doesn't need 49 paranoid delusions to complain. Its not about numbers its about severity.

All the "it wont be attributed to my sex" isnt a privilege.. I'd rather hear "Don't blame The Puma, he's just a man" than hear "You are an ***, Puma!"

It seems to me to be rather pretentious, and made by a woman to make women feel subjugated. Women are not expected to maintain a show of emotional and physical strength, maintain successful finances and income, fix mechanical problems when they arise, do labor chores around the house (yard work, anything that requires physical strength), or defend the family should the need arise (verbally or physically).
