regardless the situation it is a human being, it is murder. I had to go through a display of aborted babies. I have never and will never support the decision to kill another human being. there are many of people who can't have children and would like to adopt help them and give them your baby.

I have had two incredibly bad pregnancies. If I had a third I would have health problems that would last with me for a life time (diabetes, heart trouble, non-functioning thyroid). Mind you I had absoutely no health problems before pregnancy and was not overweight at all. A woman in our area just died from childbirth. If another person has the right to force you to compromise your health... pregnancy can definitely do this. (1/3 more blood volume, blood sugar problems, taxes the thyroid, pancreas and heart, higher blood pressure) it is totally unfair. Pregnancy is not just like strapping a backpack on your belly and complaining about hemmorroids and heart burn for ten months (yes, ten is full term). Pregnancy has serious risks and the rate of death is higher for a pregnant woman that a woman getting an abortion or not pregnant at all. See .gov for stats I have no time to look this up. Why is it that others believe their religious ideology superceeds another persons wishes and beliefs. I have never understood that. Am I saying hey everybody got get an abortion. No. But to not allow someone to get an abortion... please. If you go to planned parenthood's website it gives government cited statistics. And something like 99.999 percent of abortions are first trimester. The second trimester are usually only in extreme unusual cases. No one wants and abortion but sometimes there is no alternative. BTW, 1/4 of all pregnancies end in misscarriage anyway... it's not guareenteed that pregnanct and two weeks means pregnant at ten.

I definitely believe it is the woman's choice.
I don't personally agree with people using abortion as a form of birth control, but that gives me no right to say it should be made inaccessible to those who require an abortion simply because some people misuse it.
I look at it this way... if you are against abortion, do not have one. You get many people who, in trying to act 'moral', quote the bible on the sanctity of life, yet act like total hypocrites ignoring the part where 'God' says we have 'free will' to decide right and wrong for ourselves... which leads to my next arguement: some people claim by allowing abortions to be legal we're forcing doctors to do something they feel is immoral. Bull! Doctors can choose to not give abortions... there are many other doctors who will take the responsibility.
So, for all you pro-lifers out there, if you're going to keep telling women what to do with their bodies, you might want to consider adopting these unwanted children and setting up counseling for some of these women who have experienced life-shattering events to cause these pregnancies. Otherwise, shut up and allow people to make their own decisions.

I think that it's truly up to the person that's making this choice.
Because no matter how much advice one seeks out, the last decision up ultimately up the person with child.
If she doesn't want to go thru with it, then by law, she doesn't have to.
However, I think one should always examine a decision BEFORE making it.
If the person will not be able to live with that decision then they should prolly try to think of other alternatives.
I don't judge peopl that've had abortions. Even when I was pro-life I didn't. why? b/c I wasn't in their shoes & couldn't put myself there to imagine the conflict going on inside of them.

Most of the answerers who are For Abortioin have eiher cited extreme cases e.g. rape or left it to personal choice. There may have been such a time when it was left to the sweet will of the person but in case abortion is indicated on account health grounds there is no alternative. Similarly, the burgeoning world population no more allowes us to leave it to personal choice. Hence the one child norms in China. The religious dogma against it pertains to a byegone age when perhaps it was advisale to get more children for men were the only fodder availale for cannons then.To say that it is murder is more a sentimental reaction than what is factually warranted.Abortion is done or should be done quite early in pregnancy when the fetus is not completely formed. It has yet to qualify for being called 'life'

I can only think of few instances where abortion would be appropriate and those do not include being stupid and getting drunk and getting pregnant and deciding not to have the baby. Most of the time, I would say if you didn't want to have a baby...to give it up for adoption. There are way too many people out there that need/want a child in their lives and cannot have one of their own. Now, I do think abortion is okay if the pregnancy poses a threat to the baby or the mother. Rape cases where the woman did not ask to get pregnant, I would say that I could understand, though that would not be my personal choice. I guess I stand on the fence. I don't really believe in abortion, and there is probablly nothing that would make me have one personally, BUT I wouldn't look down on those that do it for health reasons or because of rape. Other than that, it's murder, pure and simple. I don't care what anyone says...it is alive...it may not be breathing on it's own...but it is ALIVE. I say more adoption, less abortion. And more taking responsibility for our actions!!!!!♥

According to God's word it is an act of murder. In Canada it is legal to get abortions and if a female were attacked by someone when she was pregnant and the fetus was hurt or it died it's not an offence. Only the assault on the women would be liable for charges on the offender. I personally wouldn't have an abortion and I am anti-abortion. Life is beautiful and even though we can't see this beautiful creature growing inside of us it is still murder when we abort it through an abortion, or any sort of birth control that will abort the ovulated egg. Every one has a chance to live and live life.

As a Christian I have to say I am against it, But I have to be pro choice because it isn't for me to be the judge of anyone. God will judge you choices. As far as being raped, it is still gods plan and he has blessed you with a child. Americans should stop trying to control everyone. We need to choose for ourselves. If my religion says I am not allowed, but yours says go ahead, Then why cant we both CHOOSE and be happy. After all you put your own soul on the line.

I'm in favor of it for several reasons; rape, financial problems, already has children. If a woman doesn't want a baby she will find ways to get rid of it and I frankly cannot see going back to the days with coathangers, which is what they used to use.
I am making an addition to what I have already said. Some of the above answers stated abortion is murder, however, consider this, what is worse, getting the abortion or killing the baby after it's born (because an abortion wasn't feasible for whatever reason) and leaving it in a trash can or dumpster. Answer that one. I've always wondered how people would answer that.

Pro-life when it comes to fetal rights because scientifically sentiency of a fetus has not been able to be established adequately. By it’s own admission the Government stands by the belief that it would rather stand on the side of caution when it comes to medical treatments that may or may not be harmful. Simply the government is all for stepping in to deter any procedures that are potentially harmful to it’s citizens without proper study and documentation of it accuracy. (Just ask those dying of what are considered potentially terminal illnesses when there is an experimental treatment that is unavailable to them because of government opinion.)
Pro-life politically due to of the phrasing of pro-abortion legislation. It is very vague and is very loosely based on a person’s civil rights. (This again is done without the consideration of sentiency being able to be established defiantly from either side.) Its vagueness also leaves it open for interpretation and loop holding. (This in a system where highly popular and beneficial laws have been voted down because one or two words were considered open for interpretation.)
Pro-life morally because honestly I am a Christian and though I feel it is up to others to choose their own paths and accept the consequences. I also feel it morally a responsibility to give a voice to the fetuses that have none to give for themselves. As I would for any woman, man or child that I feel is being tried and punished for actions not their own.
Pro-life socially because it is established that most abortions are performed in the US are as a form of birth control. And almost 60% of those abortions are repeat abortions by women who have had one or more abortions. Abortions performed due to incest, rape, maternal mortality, age of mother (Under 13 and over 65) and fetal defect are on the lowest percentage of reasons given for abortions. I think it is socially irresponsible for our society to endorse any cause that is willing to sacrifice fetuses just because of lack of accountability. I also feel that it has been the cornerstone to long of feminists to have the right of abortions to justify that they and not men have control over their bodies (Which is funny considering that self termination is still considered illegal in many places even regarding poor quality of life.) Sacrificing mortally any segment of our population to prove a social or political theory is just monstrous.
Pro-life historically by example of the Romans who left unwanted infants out for exposure. The believed they were not yet developed enough to be considered a human with rights. So they lived by the ideology that if it were the will of a higher power for the child to survive then someone would come along and save the child. Barbarous by most people’s standards, Yet as science progresses and the survival rate of babies born at fewer weeks increases, along with the quality of those infants life, what will future generation think about the way we are treating our young? (As they say those who refuse to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it)

In my opinion, everyone should have a choice. The only place where I draw the line is people who use abortion as birth control. Totally do not beleive in that.
