I'm looking at a rather complicated one and I want the artist to draw it out before doing it on my arm. What will this cost me?

My tattoo (on my upper arm) a cross with a rose in the middle and script on top and bottom with ALOT Of detail and shading, which took about an hour, I paid $170 plus the tip.

The guy that did mine charged $150/hr plus 5 dollars per needle or something like that. HE was REALLY good though and worked very efficiently. He made my vision of what I wanted come to life and it exceeded any expectations I had.

The fact is, I haven'tgotten another yet becuase I want him to do my next.

You get what you pay for, and in the instance of a PERMANENT piece of art on my body, I don't mind paying more.

All mine are rather smallish and I had the artwork in hand-- so mine all cost between $100-$150 each.
Yours could run close to $500. But you could get quotes before you commission the work.

I have several good friends who are artists and did my work for me as Christmas or birthday gifts-- and one just because she loves me!

The cost of tattoos all depends on where you get it and what you get. A lot of tattoo shops have a limited price. For instance...my tattoo shop will charge you at least $40.00 for any tattoo. Even if its just a small dot. I have 3 tattoos. I have a turtle with 3 flowers on my foot that cost $80.00. I have a butterfly with my grandmother's name which cost $60.00 and I have two large angel wings on my back that were free hand that cost $140.00. So, take your design to your tattoo artist, and he/she should be able to give you a set price before starting the tattoo. If not, tell them what your budget is, and they should be able to work with it.

$60 about 15 years ago for a slightly specialized tatoo.
All you can do is ask the artist what he would charge, he'll either tell you or he won't. Try to find an artist who specializes in the type of tatoo you are looking for...that way he'll be interested in doing a new version.

I have 4 so far, and they've totaled about $425. My husband just got a fairly complicated celtic armband with some of the Grateful Dead bears, and it was $200.

My 1st one cost 200$ he gave me 40$ off though
My 2nd cost 50$ (he gave us a discount because we knew the owner of the shop)

I plan on getting my whole back done and I don't even want to think of how much THAT is going to cost.

cost is going to depend on the size of the peice, the colors used, and the artist you go to

could be as low as $50, or as high as $500

It all depends on what you want. something like that can cost you a few hundred bucks..the bigger the tat, or the more work it takes, the more its going to cost.. So, I'd brink 3-4 hundred dollars with me. i have a few tats. and all together i probably paid a good $500 for them altogether. shoot, I have my moms initials on my inner wrist and that was like $80. and it took like 10 minutes to do..lol,,.

I just got a small 2 colored heart and it was $60 but it was at a really nice tattoo place, so maybe it was over-priced?
