Like everything else there are those who would abuse the system. I would have done a link to this story but I don't know how. It's on the Yahoo news headlines section. There are a number of big name religious organizations who's financial records are being questioned.

I wonder why the Reverend Jessie Jackson wasn't on that list? And how about Reverend Al Sharpton?

...I would say mostly because the rules are different for liberals.
...Also ask why Jackson and Sharpton have used church pulpits for years to push their political agendas and perhaps to support themselves, in violation of the ficticious cliche of the "separation of church and state", which is really not found anywhere in the Constitution.
...Most who cross Jackson and Sharpton cease to complain when they are called racists, for pointing out Jackson's and Sharpton's hypocrisy. And these two guys have made a career out of situations like this. Jesse often bullies companies to force his agenda, when it doesn't operate like he thinks it should.
...Jackson and Sharpton seem to believe in a Gospel that adds wealth and political freedom, a social gospel that proclaims that gain is the main thing, however you can get it. Listen to how often Jackson talks of the distribution of wealth - that is Marxist talk for removing money from others.
...What I find in the Bible is the Gospel that promises freedom from sin through trusting in Jesus Christ, regardless of whether you have health, wealth, or political freedom.
