I appreciate him more as a singer rather than an actor. Probably because I've only seen him in "Labyrinth" and "The Prestige". Both are good movies, but labyrinth is my favorite.

I suppose "Labyrinth" would be the obvious pick - if for no other reason than Jennifer Connolly showing her true mettle early on - holding her own with such a charismatic presence as Bowie's, as well as a host of "Muppets" couldn't have been easy.
Having said that, I always thought "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" was a tour-de-force performance for Sir David. It IS startling, indeed.
I also quite liked "The Linguini Incident", though few seemed to.
What's truly surprising - of all the horror fans to be found on Yahoo! Answers - what, no mention of "The Hunger"? Shame on you!
Also, he was probably the only redeeming quality of "The Last Temptation of Christ". It was pretty awful, Harvey Keitel notwithstanding.
"The Man Who Fell To Earth" was pretty ridiculous - but it was kind of cool, too.
Okay, you've got me - "Labyrinth". But "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" would be a close second. Fantastic!
