Thank you all (except for the immature) for the great suggestions suggestions. When the time comes I will be prepared! Raising a girl is tuff & scary but great at the same time. She can talk to me about anything and I want to keep it that way. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Always tell your daughter the truth when she asks questions such as the one you're expecting her to ask.

Oh my goodness some of these comments are just plain silly .shes a growing eight year old girl whats the problem with some of you its a natural thing for some ladies to shave their pubic hair not everyone does it but if it makes you feel more clean then its what you do ..as for your daughter seeing you naked that to is nothing to be ashamed of she is YOUR daughter if it wasn't then there would be a problem, i personally wouldn't allow a child so young to shave below because of the irritation it may cause, why not explain when she gets a little older maybe she will feel the way you and then its her choice, just explain to her why you do it in a simple way
best of luck x

Just say that when she hits a certain age she will need to as well. I'm 15 and have shaven legs and underarms since I was 12 and down below since I was 13. There is nothing wrong with seeing her mother naked, me and my mother often get changed infront of each other, or I might use the bathroom when she's in the shower. It is normal for mothers and daughters to do so.

I would just tell her the truth. Tell her that it is cleaner and more comfortable. Have you talked to her about getting her period and everything? If you have not now is the time. They have a great book from the American Girl line. It is called The care and keeping of me. If you want one and they sell them at Target and Bath and Body Works for $9.99. It is very informative and she can find everything she needs to know in there. My daughter and all of her friends have them. Once one got one and told the others they all wanted one. They have even shared them.

if i were you i'd just explain to her that every woman has a different preference about whether she wants to shave and how. tell her that you like being completely shaved but that she can choose to do whatever she wants to. it's probably going to be a little bit of an uncomfortable conversation but just try to be honest with her about why you do what you do (without mentioning the sexual part) and explain to her that if she doesn't want to bother with shaving for now that's perfectly fine. or if she does, if you feel comfortable, you can show her how to do it properly. good luck! puberty is a difficult time as you know but the fact that you have such an open and honest relationship with your daughter will absolutely make this phase of her life more healthy and less insane. just keep the communication open as much as you can!

To everyone with negative and immature comments...grow up!! The asker is looking for serious answers not unwanted judgments about something you know nothing about!

I would just tell her some women prefer to shave because its more comfortable, easier to keep clean, and some women choose to shave and others choose not to, its a personal decision. Are you worried that she is going to want to shave hers when she realizes you shave yours? If that's the case honestly I would just let her do it when she gets to the age where she can safely handle a razor...let her figure out what she prefers.

Tell her you shave for sanitary reasons. Hopefully when she gets her period she will understand. Shaving is much cleaner. Good luck.
*To the above poster, just because she shaves doesn't make her a whore. Lots of women shave. I shave because it's cleaner and my husband enjoys it. There is nothing wrong with a girl seeing her mother naked. My mother was very open when I was growing up. I saw her naked at times up until I moved out. There is nothing wrong with it at all.

Being straight with your kids and laying it out for them I think is the best policy. My mother always warned me afore time about things like sex periods even pubic hair. Just be honest with her and love her. She will be fine!

You are going to get some crzy's on this one...Sorry>>>> Anyway you should just explain things to her slowly let her know what will eventually happen to her body and for what reasons she really should know before it comes out of no where and shocks the heck out of her.

Why do you show your daughter your naked body if you don't want to have to explain? This isn't immature, it's common sense =)
