My laptop has windows vista.

Laptops are generally slower than desktops, and since it's running Vista, it's already using a huge chunk of resources. That's probably why. Unless you can add more RAM to your laptop, it's not going to run much faster. Try shutting down background processes while you play and decreasing the graphics quality (in the options menu while playing the game).

If your lap top does not meet the minimum requirements, espically in memory and processing, it will run slow.
IF you are running a resource heavy app at the same time as SIMS, it will run slow.
Otherwise, perfom basic maintance (virius scan, defrag, disk cleanup) and see if that helps.

you may have so many games programs ect. they take up memory. your best bet is to buy an external hardrive.
