TRY LIVING HERE!!! It is background noise in car commercials (NO, we don't ride in "schooners") and every other local business ad on TV and radio.
The "sooners" were theives. They also became the wealthy ones. Oklahoma City bacame the State Cap ONLY after the State Seal was STOLEN from Guthrie and taken to an area close to land owned by the Gaylord family. Gaylord is still the most powerful name in OK today. They own the "Daily JOKE-lahoman" newspaper, have BIG interests in the horse racing industry, control the liberal bias media, hire unintelligent sportswriters (remember Mike Gundy) etc, etc. Gaylord has their name all over OU too. It is "good-ol-boy" politics abound in Oklahoma, and Gaylord, short of being Governor, has his claws dug in deep. Although, It's funny, they actually now live in Tennessee.
Now that your OK history lesson is over, you can see how things were done in the early days 'round these parts. We too, like West Virginia, have somewhat of a reputation for "simple minds". My opinion as to te "boomer sooner" song is this....When all you have is OU football, you better expect everyone to be a fan, even the ones who cant read and have no clue and think "first down" is in regards to beer drinking. SO, come up with a fight song the most "simpl-minded drunk rednecks" can remember...thus "boomer sooner".
OU is actually a VERY good academic institution, and I mean no disrespect to OU. I live in OK and I am not typically a fan. HOWEVER, they are a good football team and WVU better bring their best. Sooner fans LOVE Tostito's!

You're making me laugh Mountaineer Fan!
Boomers were the people who came for the land run and grab land legally.
Sooners did it the night before and were land thieves.
I still don't understand why the NCAA put us on probation when were called the Sooners (thieves, we cheat and our name says so)
Be careful, some of those drunk Sooners can actually fight!
This is fun! Keep posting Mountaineer Fan and good luck to your team, I still think were gonna beat the crap out them though.

It makes sense if you know where the saying came from. Those were the names of the first two horses that were used to pull the wagon around the field. They were donated to the school by a dedicated OU fan.

i think of that's a loss of know to hold any gadget to college. no longer purely that whether it inhibits your getting the income out of your preparation. there's a ability for theft and actual harm. purely pay interest and hear all the flaws that are occurring around you, you are able to learn something efficient.

Let the record show I finally agree with you on something. I suggest you listen to the game with the sound off, because they are going to play that song after every score and there will be many.
