We are a wild animal. Fear, lust, and hunger drive us. We are also a communal animal, with be instincts that curb our hungers. To complicate matters, we have a self aware mind, which struggle to comprehend itself.

Our urges are in conflict with each other. Or rational mind is often at odds with our irrational compulsion. Philosophy might well be best described as the attempt to reconcile these differences.

Human nature is the fundamental nature and substance of humans, as well as the range of human behavior that is believed to be invariant over long periods of time and across very different cultural contexts. The existence of a human nature has been criticized by thinkers such as Hegel, Marx,
Nietzsche, the structuralism movement or postmodern theory.

"The only thing that one really knows about human nature is that it changes. Change is the one quality we can predicate of it. The systems that fail are those that rely on the permanency of human nature, and not on its growth and development. The error of Louis XIV was that he thought human nature would always be the same. The result of his error was the French Revolution. It was an admirable result." -
"Oscar Wilde"

Inherited genetic behavior responses or actions, and peer interactions play a huge role in influencing ones nature. Another factor is choosing right or wrong behavior for any given situation in life.

Just my observation.

human nature is wanting, working to get what you want. fighting for what you want. waiting for what you want.
wanting for answers, wanting for friends, wanting for luxury, wanting for finer things. want for peace, want for equality.
every major event in the history of humanity is based on wanting or desire. mahatma gandhi fasted for several days because he WANTS to unify india. mother teresa went all over the world because she WANTS to help people. Many heroes all around the world died fighting because they WANT freedom. should i cite more example?

bottomline, human nature is wanting.
