My husband can get them really bad. Our insight:
1st don't sit on anything cold. The MDs told him no relationship, but he KNOWS that there is by painful experience. So, he carries a hat with him to sit on if a cold surface.
2nd, Witch Hazel does work wonders. He puts some on a cotton ball and wets liberally, or even leaves the cotton ball in place. It does help.
3rd, another cause he found was taking too many trace minerals. It was confirmed when my mom started trace minerals and developed her first ever case of hemorrhoids.
Was just reading here yesterday about mullein and someone said that helps, haven't tried it. Tea tree would be good to try, but we haven't.

Using a cotton pad drenched with witch hazel as a final cleansing after each bowel movement has worked wonders for me over the past year. It helps to keep them from becoming a problem in the first place. Also increase fiber intake in the diet too.
Previous to this witch hazel discovery, I did try several different hemmoroid preparations only to be very dissappointed. Witch Hazel is so inexpensive too!

My husband has found that a few drops of tea tree oil in a warm bath helps with hemmorhoids. It's not recommended to apply directly. Tucks pads work really well, too. I think they have witch hazel.

Dab just a bit of castor oil on the area and lay down. Don't know why it works but it does.
