Not according to the movie, "When Harry Met Sally":
Harry Burns: You realize of course that we could never be friends.
Sally Albright: Why not?
Harry Burns: What I'm saying is - and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form - is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally Albright: That's not true. I have a number of men friends and there is no sex involved.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: You only think you do.
Sally Albright: You say I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry Burns: No, what I'm saying is they all WANT to have sex with you.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: How do you know?
Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.
Sally Albright: What if THEY don't want to have sex with YOU?
Harry Burns: Doesn't matter because the sex thing is already out there so the friendship is ultimately doomed and that is the end of the story.
Sally Albright: Well, I guess we're not going to be friends then.
Harry Burns: I guess not.

Yes. I had male friends all my life until I got married( my husband didn't agree so I cut all ties). I had friends from kindergarten to my senior year that were male and we never liked each other, but we all hung out and had fun, but just as friends. I also grew up with boys in my neighborhood who were always just friends. I also met a few guys in college who were only friends, and stayed my friends for years. You have to know from the beginning that there are no feelings for each other and treat each other as you would a same sex friend. It can be done.

Yes,some off my best friends are guys & I don't have sex w/ them. I won't either because then it is no longer simply a friendship. From what I've seen turning a innocent friendship into a sexual relationship ruins everything.

i don't think so. i don't think there is any reason for someone who is married to pick up new friends of the opposite sex. unless, of course, they are looking for more than just friendship. even if it starts out as just friendship, it often leads to more.

You obviously haven't learned the facts of life yet:
1. There is no Santa
2. All men cheat, almost all women cheat
3. Marriage ruins relationships(moving is the same)
4. Everyone lies (you even lie to yourself)
5. Life is not fair
Good luck and Happy Holidays. Email me

i think most would say no way but, i disagree. i have many "strictly" platonic relationships with men. we're just pals, and can talk and joke about almost anything.

Yes, it can be done but it takes a whole lot of responsibility and respect for each other.
