About 2 months ago somebody tried to break in to my car with a spade, my drivers window was gouged and scratched but was'nt smashed. They were disturbed and ran off and left the spade. It took them 4 weeks to collect the spade for prints after repeated calls from myself. Only to be told that they would not take it any further as they did'nt think they would convict. Now i was caught doing 32mph in a 30 zone 4 days ago by an unmarked van with no temp road sign stating he was hiding like a commando in the bushes already i have had 3 letters demanding the name of the driver and a phone call to the local constabulary has informed me that i will be at court in less than 3 weeks if i don't respond to who was driving.
What i want to know is how can they be so quick to prosecute a driver for 2 miles over the limit yet drag their heals over more serious crimes.
I'm sick of them treating motorists like hitler whilst serious criminals are free on our streets.
your opinions please

I will fight this as there was no markings on the road to say the gestapo was about snapping at drivers.

I am inclined to agree with you. And we pay for this "service" via our taxes!

I agree with you. It's one of those things you have to put up with. I feel you will not succeed and will only upset yourself further.
Be pragmatic, cut your losses and move on. But I do know how you must feel.. I have had my car broken into. Police could not do anything. Then again three weeks ago my sister's (who lives alone) was burgled in the early hours of the morning WHEN SHE WAS IN THE HOUSE IN BED. She confronted him... the police was called and they were very nice and supportive to my sister nd very nice to her. My sister was a wreck after that ordeal. So sometimes the police do a great job.
Fanny J is correct about the 10%. My advice is get a Garmin GPS receiver. I did the 250W model. It warns you ahead of ALL speed cameras. It warns you when you are breaking the speed limit even when you're not near a speed-camera

1. you should try to become chief of police so you can make this situation better.
2. they do not stand to make any income from the spade crime; the motivation is different.
3. Remember, the annoyance is inside you and may not be the most productive approach to the problem.
4. You could get a private investigator to pursue the spade problem.
5. Think about being grateful for your life. As long as you are all involved in what other people are doing wrong you will not be happy. You will feel annoyed.

You need to respond and give them information about who was driving the vehicle before you try to fight the prosecution. I failed to correctly fill in the small filing cabinets worth of forms when I got caught by a speed camera and was charged with failure to give the drivers details. This has been a millstone round my neck for years now because your insurance company will see that and wack your premium up. I tried to change insurance companies but some wouldn't touch me with it on my licence and those that did wanted silly money.
I agree you are being badly done to and respect your right and desire to fight this, but you must respond with the drivers details or you'll regret it.

mad, ignore the one that says you have to be doing 35 in a 30 before you get done that's not true. most forces allow 10% +3 before the prosecute but that is not law it is at the discretion of the force. if there were no signs out it could be construed as entrapment but they will only argue that you were speeding regardless of whether there were signs out or not. tell them your speedo said you were doing 30mph and that their camera must be wrong and ask to see proof of when it was last calibrated. my brother did that and he did not have to pay. i was done myself not long ago in wales where the mad mullah of the police world see's motorists as fair game, i was doing 38 in a 30 but they prosecuted me for doing 36 in a 30, who was i to argue ??? good luck with that xx

Awwwww thats crap!
Fight it, whatever happened to the '10% rule'? It still stands doesnt it?
Unless you are more than 10% over the speed limit they cant do anything, well thats how I always understood it, so therefore you need to appeal. Its 6 points now for speeding, that sucks as well.

Something similar happened to me too, I was in the house on my own and a Lambretta scooter that my uncle was storing was stolen after obvious trouble to get in...they cut the padlocks off all my gates before breaking in...I was really upset and I waited in all day for the cops and they didn't bother to come and fingerprint or anything as it was a motor vehicle....my uncle kept ringing them to see if there was any leads on it...and they'd found it, burnt round the petrol tank and 'forgot' to tell him, then had the cheek to charge him storage!
The police need to focus on catching the real criminals, but they seem to scared to be, its easy to hide in a van and make some easy moeny...but to go out...and deal with proper crime....oooh no, thats too risky!

Money is the reason whats the colour of money, just a thought could it to be keep the crime figures lower the delay. i heard of lots of people who have crimes done at the end of the month to them that the police try to make it the next month crimes figure if the ones for say august are high already move as much crimes reported to september. and so on.

Technically they can't do you for 32 mph as they have to allow for speedo error, you should ask to see a calibration certificate for that day for the camera - there is no way it should have flashed you for 32. If I were you I would go into this further because speedo error allowance should be up to 6 mph on most speed cameras. (UK)

Eh - they didn't have to look hard to find you - you more or less came to them by "speeding" (man- they're tough in that neighborhood!)...they didn't have to do as much work. I'm really shocked they didn't pick up that spade for prints sooner.
