I don't do gifts for the holidays. Instead my whole family plans an event. The theater or an opera and we all pay for ourselves to go and then out to dinner. We like to share experiences with each other instead of doing the big monetary thing. I also do that with my friends. Will plan an extra special event that we all do together and pay for ourselves. The greatest gift is creating a memory and it really doesn't cost nearly as much. So I have it saved up I suppose.

I'm smart. I take my tax refund at the beginning of the new year and put it in the bank. When Christmas comes, I take out however much money I need for shopping. No worries about having to save extra money or skimp so I can buy gifts. I think I'm pure genius...

I start in Sept and buy a gift off each paycheck and then when there's extra money it goes to the gift. Now that it's crunch time, I'll give up the booze for the remainder :( in order to get the rest...that and hope for the money to fall down the sky miraculous.
