I've written lists for years and years; long before I became 63. I write no more now than at 30. I write appointments on my calender. I write to do lists sometimes. Grocery lists that I add to frequently until I go to the grocery store.
I do write the location of my car in big parking garages on the parking ticket. I'm not sure if I don't remember that as well or the garages have gotten larger.
Older doesn't mean more forgetful. I do find that I remember what is important to me and file away the rest.

Yes I am 58 and I use reminder notes and also leave them on my computer so they will come up about 2 days before the event and also 2 hours of the day of the event. We have so many things to remember with grand children's birthdays, bill pays, doctor's appointments, dentist appontments, etc. Who could remember all this with out a daily appointment book or leaving a reminder some where or on your computer, I use the computer the most becaue I have it set to remind me 2 days before and 2 hours on the day of. Hope I helped to ease your mind, we all have to at one point or another.

Absolutely. What were we discussing?
Memory lapses. That is a misnomer. Our brains have just X amount of memory. Most of that space is delegated to work, kids, bills etc. Remember when you could listen to the car radio, talk to your friends, drive and eat a burger at the same time? Now you turn down the radio when you get near your destination. Good system--that mirror thing. I typically right myself a note and promptly forget what I did with the note!

Before I go to bed, I make a
list of what I need to do the next day. I keep a running list for all of the stores I go to, and every time I think of something I need, I add it to the list.
All appointments go on the
calendar (which I check every
morning).
I also have lots of notes up
on the wall by my desk with
scotch tape.
My "things to do" list is about
a year old and nothing got done on it, yet.

yes it is useful to write things down. actually they say consuming cranberries helps with better memory retention. not sure if this true, my dad has dementia and he has been drinking cranberry juice. seems to help some that's what my sister has been telling me but I'm not sure if that is the only thing or could it be coupled with the medication he is also taking to retard the dementia process.

actually i find that i am most forgetful when i am stressed up and have lots of things to do. keeping a list of reminders will also help you focus on what you need and keep focused. e.g. if you were to go to a supermarket without a list you'd end up buying more stuff than you actually need.

Yes. I write notes all the time. I have trouble with usernames
and passwords, so I write them down. I write grocery lists,
telephone numbers, notes to myself, things to do. I even write notes to help me remember where I left off in a knitting pattern. I use those post-it notes, which are wonderful. They
are all over the place.

I've always made lists. What's even worse I add everything in my head that goes into the grocery cart and when I get to the check out I'm usually only 2% off. Got to run , hardware store, and yes it will be $55 , give or take 2%

I always have so ( thank goodness) my age doesn't matter. I leave notes by the computer, on the bar, on the front door, on my purse, on the telephone to remind me to tell someone something, and I've even put notes on my steering wheel.

I have to keep a notepad beside me on the couch so I can write down appointments and such I make while I'm on the phone. It's very embarrassing to stand someone up when you made arrangements to get together, then totally forgot about it.

ALL THE TIME! I find the ones that work the best are stapled around my purse handle. When I grab my purse I see the note. The second best place is eye level on the inside of my front door. Of course, those sometimes lose their stick and fall down. Wrapping it around my purse handle and stapling it hasn't ever failed yet!
