at the very end of this article they have about 10 great tips on increasing your milk supply. making sure you're baby is nursing enough is definitely #1. i know ppl who do swear by the fenugreek supplement. i think it works differently for different people, but is worth a try. i have also been told to add some blessed thistle supplement [also avail. @ ur natural foods store]

another thing you can do is pump every time you nurse. after baby is done, pump for about 10 mins. even if you don't get milk at 1st, you are helping tell your body you need more. i have done something like this and it has worked pretty well, plus i was able to build up my stash.
good luck and congrats on bfing your little girl!!

There is an herbal supplament called Fenugreek! It will make you produce much more milk! Doc recomended and you can take up to 12 of them a day depending on how much more milk you want and eat more often not more quantity. This is what my doc told me and it worked and is safe! The only downfall is your sweat, milk, and urine will smell like straight Mapel syrup! LOL I guess it'sd not that big of a down fall you'll always smell sweet!

when i had an issue with milk supply a lactation consultant recommended a fenugreek supplement. you can get it from any health food store. i am not so convinced that it worked...i think that her advice to keep the baby at my breast as often as i could worked and the fenugreek was just a placebo effect.
she also advised me that though water will keep the mother hydrated it scientifically has no effect on breast milk supply. the only thing that increased breast milk supply is keeping the baby at your breast. it releases hormones that tell your body to let down and keep producing.
just keep at it. with all my kids i have had this happen at one time or another. the best recommendation i can give is to give yourself a "honeymoon" with your baby. keep her in bed with you, watch movies, play, cuddle and feed her. 24 hours or so will do the trick and you will start to feel a stronger let down.
otherwise, keep making sure she has wet diapers........if so, you're good. keep at it girl ! and ask more questions if you re worried!

I take prenatal vitamins and try to get plenty of fluid and a good nutrition. I've been breastfeeding my son for 2 1/2 months. I will try to do it till he's one so that I don't have to switch him to formula.

If your baby is getting enough milk from your current supply that is all it needs so your body won't produce anymore. If you want to increase the supply then pump your breasts between feedings which will increase the production.

Hello!
Congrats on your choice to nurse! Milk and other dairy for mom, lots of rest and little stress can do wonders along with a provider who understands and promotes "healthcare". There are some whole grains that helped others increase milk production: especially now that its winter. When my daughter was born her provider, an Osteopathic Pediatrician took an inventory of my diet as well as our families emotional wellbeing. Our daughter wasn't gaining weight. Her suggestions included increasing the fat in my diet. I did this and made friends with a local goat farmer. The constitution of their milk more closely resembles ours. I was also reminded of how important it was to let go of stress and let others help me. It can restrict lactation. Right before my eyes that girl started getting color and fat gathered around her skin, not like a balloon. It looked very natural. I was speechless. So you go fearless one!

Lots of water, and any prenatal vitamin- the one you took while pregnant is perfect.
As long as you only nurse baby, and keep her on the breast whenever she's hungry- even if its right after feeding for a few weeks, your supply will meet her demand.

Drink tons of water and eat oatmeal. Not sure why about the oatmeal, but thats what my doctor said. It seemed to work! Continue taking your prenatal vitamins.
