Just wondering if any of you know of past or presant goalies who've worn player skates insead of goalie skates? Is there a style of goaltending that lends it's self to using player skates over goalie skates?

Thanks Lubers, for expanding on your answer. I hadn't considered the foot protection aspect.

Not in the modern era of the game. Goalie skates offer a different blade profile and more importantly, a protective shell. A goaltender would have repeated broken toes and other bones in his his feet if he did not wear goaltender skates.

EDIT: lol, what the heck warranted a thumbs down for that answer? I didn't offend anyone, I just stated some simple facts.

Jay McKee, oh wait he isn't a goalie. I got confused since he makes more saves than Theodore.

No goalies need the extra stability and wouldn't chance injurying their ankles

I don't know, but I bet there are a few who wear stockings and suspenders underneath their pants!
