The only reference I could find was this small excerpt: "In 1975, Union made advertising history with the first "Fruit of the Loom Guys" campaign. The commercials featured three men in costume as a bunch of grapes, an Autumn leaf, and an apple, all elements of the brand's trademark." from this website: http://www.referenceforbusiness.com/history2/77/Fruit-Of-The-Loom-Inc.html
And that's all it says about trademark. Sorry.

The fruits are:
Purple Grapes
Green Grapes
Apple
Gooseberries/Currents
Fig Leaves
I imagine the "yellow thing" is either the green grapes or the gooseberries.

I even have struggled with this myself. i ultimately found out that on the tag on my husbands underclothes, that's meant to be leaves. So i think that for the duration of the business that's wintry climate so the leaves are lifeless and in the spring they could desire to be eco-friendly.
