My son is a mature and intelligent 8 yo. He likes dinosaurs, monsters, dragons (things of that nature), Star Wars, shooting type games.
What Gamecube games can you recommend that I can get him for Christmas?

Also, is Resident Evil too difficult for that age? (He loves scary movies, I think he'd love it.)

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a must-have for any Gamecube owner.

I've never played Resident Evil, but I've heard that it's not terribly difficult. It's apparently just a shoot-em-up and stay alive game.

Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door is a very fun game, but it may take him a while to get used to the battle system if he's never played an RPG. However, everything in the game is explained and practiced before you actually have to do it.

Luigi's Mansion is also quite fun, but it's a pretty quick game. It's quite conceivable to beat this game in a few hours.

He *might* like Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, but some of the puzzles are a little vague. There's lots of alien shooting in this game.

Does he like fighting games at all? Super Smash Bros Melee is a great game to play with friends, and it's not very violent. (Then again, you said he's mature enough for Resident Evil, so it's your call)

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is a wonderful fantasy game, but it is EXTREMELY difficult, especially for first time players. The game is like chess on steroids. It takes a lot of strategy and planning. Many of the twentysomethings that I know can't figure it out.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is a fun fantasy game too. There are plenty of sand monsters to hack and slash, and some good brain-teasing puzzles in between.

Also, keep in mind that the Wii has replaced the Gamecube, so Gamecube games are not being produced anymore. There's a chance that you'll be forced to buy some of these games used if you can't find a new copy anywhere.

Happy gaming!

Resident Evil 4 is a great game, but it is kinda difficult at times. It wouldn't be a bad game if he likes the series and doesn't mind a challange.

As for other games, there are lots of great StarWars games and of course, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

You should end up going to Wal-Mart or Targets website and search for all Gamecube games to get a general idea of what is out there. If you see one you think he might like, click on it and there should be reviews of the game by other people that have played it before.

Few of the great games out there...
-----------------------------
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Spyro: A Hero's Tail
Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2
Shadow the Hedgehog
The Sims 2

hi mistress

I would have to say that SUPER MARIOKART is the coolest, funniest GC game available. Our family plays it quite often, and we never get tired of it. the better you get, the more levels you can earn. Each character has his own superpowers and weapons, so you never know what to expect..........we also like Namco museum which has a whole bunch of older arcade style games, Galaga, PacMan, etc
Good Luck and Happy Christmas !!!
