Don't smash it - hide it. When Tara was in I think the 6th grade the school called saying she had a "gift" for the violin. Of course they wanted $600, too. I told them to put her in the Choir. She could sing for free. ♥

Yeah, I hear ya. Those loud squeaky things, thank God my kids aren't doing that yet! Here it's the flute, but I think that's not as bad as the recorder. Good luck finding that hammer!

Yeah, I had one. No my dad didn't, it actually got thrown away when I got married at 21 so yeah it was around for a long time. Maybe you see why dad smashed it.

I never had a recorder as I was not musical! Both my children were indifferent to learning so the phase was short lived. Try and get through the pain barrier, you might have a recorder 'star' on your hands!!!

lol! yes! I had a recorder. I still do have it.........just dont know how to play it anymore! :p ! Tell your kid to go in another room or just ask him to stop. Say something like, "if you stop, I will give you a Hershey kiss!" You kid should listen to you and you shouldn't have to bribe him but.......sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

That's funny! Yeah I had one in 4th grade but the only thing I ever learned to play was Hot Cross Buns...

Yep. We all had to learn to play hot cross buns, or we wouldn't pass 5th grade music class. I was so terrible at it that my dad couldn't take it anymore and hid it from me, and looking back at the tapes of my recitle, I cant blame him. He said he didn't know where it was, but he "found" it a year later, when I wasn't interested in playing it anymore. Lol, good times.

Yes, I used to have mini mid day jam sessions with mine. I was supa fly in my own mind at the ripe old age of 9 1/2. I also used to record myself on video signing songs while my mom mowed the grass, it was great watching them 13 years later...
