Bhakti (Devotion to God) is like a king who has two attendants called wisdom and detachment. Bhakti must be built upon the foundation of wisdom; it must blossom in to detachment from the world. Prema (Love) gives rise to Daya (compassion), Vairagya (detachment) and induces Dama (self-control) and finally leads us along the path of Dharma (righteousness).

Bhatki is nothing but purely and truly following each and every command or rule laid by or sent by GOD. In this case not only human but animals also live stress free and happily.

I would explain it with the figure of Shiva which means kalyan. This figure explains the system of yoga where the questions you have put forward have been answered.

Look at figure of shiva. Hair (Jatas) are symbolic of vairagya. When through vairgya you control your mind. Here in figure the moon tied with jatas, you get the knowledge. the Ganges flowing through is the symbol of knowledge. Thus when you get knowledge you get rid of three fold miseries (Trishul) away from the figure of shiva and also pleasure (damroo) away from you. So you are above misery and pleasure and thus you are a free person.

So the main objective is to gain knowledge and through this knowledge you get everything you wish. I mean in spiritual sense.

i think it would depend on what definition of detachment you used, if you mean not being ruled by the world, learning to act rather then just react to events/things, or using wise reactions that come from within, then i would agree, and since you say this leads to self-control, it would seem that is the definition used
if it meant distancing yourself from the world and life, which some religions seem to use, not recognizing the worth of worldly things, then i would disagree
