I believe that the chemicals in our brains are subject to the same laws of physics that running water, falling rocks, and everything else is subject to. That is, each thing we do and each decision that we make is the result of physical states.
However, since there is current debate about the way reality operates (i.e., are there multiple universes, one in which the water drop falls to the left, one in which it goes to the right, or is there one universe and only one way the water drop could fall?)
Certainly it appears to us that we make conscious choices, but does consciousness really enter into it? Our choices are the natural reactions of chemicals. It's just so complex that we can't predict it, so it appears as choice.
Or, there really is choice - some way in which we influence our course along a path or choose from a set of universes which one we will enter.
There's really no way of knowing.

That is a matter of choice. Since life in a society imposes rules for activities, a person follow the rules, in order to stay out of trouble, and still have a universe of inquiry to play in.
For most of us, even the place we live is a matter of choice and that brings a choice of rule sets.

I believe that it is an amalgamation of factors working in synchronicity.
There are certain hard-wired genetic proclivities that we have. Some of our behaviors are predictable. The outcome of some events is predetermined by certain elements. Environment, genetics, geography, culture, religion, needs, wealth, poverty, climate, et cetera.
Aside from all of those (and other) determinants, we do indeed have free will. I know it is a hoary cliche- but it is the truth and the reality.
We are all free agents. Within certain boundaries, we have choices to make. Ergo, we live our own lives as free agents.

well, our lives are lived through the choices we make. no one ever has a planned life because people always have a choice whether to do something or not. our destiny depends on our decisions and no one elses.

We have planned life and within that we have choices. We are humans and we are born with human nature. We can not break out of this human nature. We take decisions according to our nature. So we are free to move but tied with a long rope of our nature.

We have choices when chosen take us to different places just as road map. Depending on what choice as to where it takes you. However we never know what or where the others would have taken us. To believe in destiny would suggest that you already know where and what the outcome is.
