I currently live with a bunch of flatmates and last night the guys went out, came back to the flat and started basically discussing using girls. This really surprised me for some of them, as they all seem nice guys. Why do men feel the need to brag about sex and treat girls like **** (or at least discuss them as such)? Is it some need to be macho or something?

How are these 'normal'? And I am female - from my experience, girly conversations only get sexist against men when the girls involved have been done some wrong by men (i.e. 'he's such an a**hole, all men are b*stards' BECAUSE the woman saying it has got cheated on - not just randomly). Women I know don't brag about leading guys on or anything in the same way guys do about girls....

These are normal conversations that you view as being chauvinist.

I think guy talk is the same as girl talk. How do you talk to your friends when you go out for girls nights? I think in a group setting with close friends and no members of the opposite sex its easy to get into conversations that are of the simplest nature. Theres no need to beat around the bush with friends, you just get straight to the important stuff and take out all the excess like she said this and then I said this conversations. I think it can come as a shock to someone who is overhearing it though, but its no different than girl talk! Good luck!

have you ever been in a long relationship that you knew wasnt going to work? guys really do have a one track mind! they never feel like theyre wrong! i do think they try to be "macho" but do they ever stop to think that, that doesnt get them anywhere? im on my second marriage, my first one lasted for 13 yrs, yet i am a young woman still. guys are weird!! they will never stop being guys and we will never stop trying to figure them out!! ladies tend to show emotion better than "boys". that too, i dont think they have mastered! wherefor, what is it that we havent mastered?? ha ha ha! god bless and good luck!

It is called being a guy. We get like that when around other guys. FYI-chauvinism is thinking men are superior to women, misogynist is a better word for the guys you describe.

They sound like the type that would
"hit it, lick it, split it and quit it"

They'll grow up eventually. I had friends who would go down to campus and state "hit them on the head and drag them out like a neanderthal would". hehehehe, hence, "neanderthal techniques"

But guys do enjoy, "guy talk".

Have you ever heard what the gals say to each other when they think there are no guys around?

It isn't pretty either...
