Even if a comet (a dirty snowball with some organic molecules) doesn't impact with the Earth, some of its water content can still get here.
As comets get nearer to the Sun, water vapour and dust are given off as the ice melts and vapour is forced up through the comet's dusty surface by its own pressure. These form the coma or tail of the comet.
The dust and the water vapour contained in the tail, may remain in orbit around the Sun unless a planet comes near enough to capture them. If captured by Earth's gravity, the dust and water vapour will then fall to Earth and add to the world's oceans.

As Allan mentioned, it is not unusual to see comets that consist largely of ice. If the comet hits the earth, all that water comes to our planet in the form of water vapor.

Comets are mostly water so they basically impacted the earth and delivered their water. Although not all the water came that way.

Have you read the Bible? God created, not anything less. everything we need to know is in the Bible. Please read it. When you have a desire to learn, everything will be opened up & will shed a new light on how people will look @ things that we are so blessed w/each & every day! The main reason we have asteroids is because of the Great Flood of Noah's time in the which God did make the heavens tremble & the earth shook w/fierceness because of His wrath poured out upon the unbelievers(SINNERS) as it was in the days of Noah so shall the coming of the Son of Man(2cd coming of Christ) be.
