As a private business owner a landlord can raise you rent to as much as the market will bear. Unless you have a lease that says otherwise, it appears that the building owner either wants a larger profit or would prefer that you move.

unless you are in as rental control zone like in a major city or such, you most likely will not find state statute limiting the amount a landlord can increase the rent in a year

best bet is to start looking for a new unit to rent

properly for starters the hot proprietor has a sparkling mortage. He has the valuables taxes. An i`m confident that's a whooper. Then he has coverage. Then there is the water invoice. Trash invoice. electric powered invoice. Repairing the roofs. to boot all the traditional fix artwork needed. you may desire to flow up and thank him for no longer elevating it extra. attempt looking around at house homes on your section and save the present rents obtainable. while you're satisfied the place you reside stay. If no longer satisfied then in keeping with probability you would be happier some place else.

Unless there is a clause in your present lease that states increases are limited to a certain percentage, then the landlord can increase by any amount he wants to.

Can't prove a negative. Unless there is a clause in your lease, it's a free makret and he can charge what he wants in most counties in PA>

Might check with the county atty to see if your's is different.
