I don't know who gave jamand a thumbs down, but he is correct. There is no modem, soundcard, or speakers with this system. These would have to be bought separately.

Of course, if you already have a broadband connection, you won't need to purchase a modem, and you will be able to download music files ... you just won't be able to hear them if you play them back through your computer.

No doubt, Curry's think they've got you by the short and curlies, stating that there's a TV card built in to the system. You will, of course, not be able to hear anything that's said on the TV programmes. They'll use this to get you to spend more than you really wanted to ... and they'll, undoubtedly, want you to purchase extra/extended cover for the system.

Should work fine but Emachines are known to have pre installed ad ware on them, so expect some pop ups when surfing the net.

The one thing that is lacking is a stand alone video card but if you are just doing what you listed and not plan playing any games on it you should be fine.

Wow.... no!

I thought any new PC would be good for basic requirements like yours. OK there's no modem but who wants dial-up when downloading music these days.

But then you have to listen to the music!

NO SOUND CARD!

Oops.

Integrated video card, that's fine, you won't be gaming so that's not a concern.

But no sound card.

Is that even legal? Selling a computer without a sound card? (note to idiots: that is a rhetorical question)

OK if this is a huge deal, like 50 quid less than the competition, buy it and a cheap sound card and have someone install it for you if you know a PC buff. Otherwise if you have to pay more than the difference to get one and have it installed, it's not worth it.

It seems to be a decent computer Suga and I would think that Emachines or any other would have no need to put spyware on their computer's

Nope - No soundcard - no modem - no speakers

All extra cost on top!!

In fact - for £30 LESS than that - you could buy a laptop with VERY good specs.
