I think it's silly. If you've read the books I think they have more to do with existentialism and pure fantasy than they do with dogging on the Catholic Church and organized religion. There's some shots taken here and there but for the most part the concepts present in the books are pretty ambiguous to any specific religion or branch.

What I find stupid about their complaint with the books is when there's a parallel between the book's Magisterium and the Catholic Church who's to blame, the book for making the Church look bad or the Church for BEING bad?

What I also don't understand is why they have to publically denounce the movie. Wouldn't a devout Catholic not go see the movie based on the principallity of their faith? This is just more shameless religious recruiting. If you don't like the idea of the movie then don't go see the movie, it's that simple. Allow the sensible people in the world to enjoy it and make up their own decisions.

I read the same article and it just pisses me off.

Christians boycotted The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe AND The Lord of the Rings. They just need something to b*tch about. Stupid Christians...

Christianity is truly irrelevant in so many ways - except for the enormous damage they cause throughout the world. I truly wish that religion would change...

Their protests are self-preserving efforts and do little to change those who recognize the illegitimacy of the seriously misdirected faith.
