Tim H.,I sometimes question how people spell as well. You don't begin a sentence with a lower case letter and it's spelled h-a-v-e,not h-a-e-v.Peace.

Bigger the ego of the person, bigger is the size of car required for ego-gratification. Cars like clothes have personalities, which the buyer may try mimic or try to pretend. Humvees reflects image of macho and adventurous person.

I think its a good way to get girls, who judge a man by shoes he wears( ie: are dumb). and if you cant get attention of others by using your mind and personality ie: what you really are, and you have lots of $$$, buying hummer is a good idea.

Militaries buy them because they are good off-road vehicles.

Civilians don't actually buy Humvees but buy Hummers of which there are three models, the H1 which is based off the military Humvee, the H2 which is a bit smaller and the even smaller H3 which is actually quite a reasonable size.

Now some people need good off-road ability and Hummers tend to do very well off-road (the four wheel drive system they use is about the best out there) but I suspect most people just buy them because they like the look of them.

They are fun to drive. The military has been using them for a long time, so people become aware of them when they watch the latest news on war developments and see them using them to get around. My philosophy is this: If it's good enough for the military, it's good enough for the common man.

They probably want to show they could have something someone can't afford. To me they are so huge and to find no room inside, I feel they are a big waste. Big ego and small packages!

They're saying "I can afford $150 to fill this baby up once a week. Can you?"

It's a status symbol.
