One side of my inner labia is longer than the other. The fact that one is longer doesn't bother me at all, there's really not too much of a difference that you can see anyway. The problem though is that the longer one is pretty painful a majority of the time.

When I have my period and use tampons, I accidentally pinch the labia. When I wipe after using the restroom, that one just gets pulled a lot more from being longer. I don't actually feel this, but I imaging there's more pulling and moving of the longer one simply from walking and having my legs rub together.

All of this results in the labia being pretty sore most of the time. Is there anything that can be done about this?

You can ask your doctor for topical numbing medication called Lidocaine gel to see if that helps.

The other possibility depending on what things you try next with the help of your doctor is to do surgery to remove the excess skin. However, I have to say, I had the surgery because of pain and irritation from it and I ended up with more problems.

I found out later that the excess skin may have been caused by one of my medical problems: a hormone imbalance called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Ask your doctor about the possibility of hormones possibly playing in to why this area is causing pain.
