The Whole Casing INCLUDING the Power Supply, Hard drives, Motherboards, Add-on cards (like Video Cards Sound Cards or Modems) Cd-rom and Floppy inside it can also be referred to as the CPU. It goes like, The Monitor, The CPU, The Keyboard, The Mouse, The Printer, etc.
Microprocessor is the chip attached to the Motherboard inside our "CPU" that handles processing of Application/Softwares, well that's my simple definition there ^_^
Microprocessor alone can be called as the CPU also (Central Processing Unit) because almost all processing are done by that Silicon Chip

Pentium 4 is a type of microprocessor used in many CPU's. It refers to the architecture used in designing the processor.
A CPU or Central Processor Unit, is normally refering to the entire main computer, which includes the power suply, motherboard with the microprocessor installed, sound and video cards if not built into the motherboard, optical and hard drives, as well as all the ports to give access to the CPU, mouse, keyboard, USB, printer, sound etc.
The heart of the CPU is the microprocessor, and all the other devices are there to support it. Either by providing memory, storage, input or output functions.

It is actually both although it is designated a CPU (central prossessing unit).
Microprossesors are chips that process info and can be used in a variety of machines such as new laser cutters, and other industrial machines and more.
A CPU is used in a computer and it is the main chip that processes nearly everything. Video and sound can be rerouted to other microprocessors (which the video and sound cards have). A CPU usually has more capacitors to accomplish the job of processing the program instructions and your input from devices (keyboard, mouse, joystick etc).
Although todays video cards have more power than some of the older computers.

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is usually used to refer to the "box" that contains the processor, memory, hard drive, CD drive, modem, network card, video card, etc.
A Pentium 4 is a microprocessor. It would be one of the elements found in the CPU.
Sometimes CPU is used to incorrectly to mean only the microprocessor. So you will hear that.

It depends, actually. While most operating systems support dual core processors, some programs don't. Overall, the dual-core will be faster, because basically it means you have two processors running at 2.5 GHz instead of one at 3 GHz. Most newer, brand name software should run better on a dual core processor, but 500 MHz difference shouldn't make any noticeable difference in speed. You would be better off with a dual core.
