...but he's planning on sending David Miliband to do it for him. Does anyone else think this is completely unacceptable?

Prime Minister Gordon Brown could miss the signing of the EU Reform Treaty next week because of a diary clash, Downing Street has said.
He is due to face the Commons liaison committee - made up of senior MPs - on Thursday morning, just hours before the ceremony takes place in Lisbon.
A Number 10 spokesman said: "He does want to go... it is hoped he can go."
Foreign Secretary David Miliband is likely fly to Portugal to sign the document if Mr Brown is unavailable.

Of course its unacceptable!! The Constitution should NOT be signed by anyone!!
I don't believe for one minute the Commons liaison committee is the real reason. How very convenient for Brown, once again he gets someone else to do his dirty work and wriggles out of his responsibility! Does the idiot not have a diary of appointments? He supposed to be a PM, what a joke the man is! We should also remember the Constitution will be signed without Parliamentary Scrutiny...
Soon we will have made the transition from an elected dictatorship to an unelected dictatorship. What a fate for a once-great nation. And how miserable the British have been in capitulating so feebly.
"To the infamous memory of Britain's New Labour governments, their love of ill-founded war and their authoritarion fight, undertaken with greater effectiveness than the Luftwaffe, to undermine those civil liberties and hard-won traditions of freedom fought for by decent people over many centuries."

One certainly hopes so! It is clear that the government is afraid that the people of this country will find out the extent to which power has been handed over to the European Union and the extent to which the British constitutional structure has already been undermined. Nor do they want the people to understand how much the process will be advanced by this treaty. The government, the EU and the Europhile establishment are all afraid of the people finding out the truth. If the project of European integration were such a good idea they would want people to vote on it; they would want people to know about it. But they don’t want us to have a vote because they know that the people will turn against the whole idea when they read even parts of this treaty and find out what has been going on behind their backs. This treaty is the UE Constitution in all but name and Gordo the Goblin King’s “red lines” are certainly not drawn in permanent marker. The not-a-constitution is a self-amending treaty. Anything in the not-a-constitution that currently requires a unanimous vote of member states can be changed to a majority vote without another treaty. The not-a-constitution establishes the Euro as the currency of the EU and requires all member states to commit to its introduction. (Bang goes another referendum) This is undeniably a transfer of sovereignty from the British government to the EU. Commitments have been made, in signing the treaty, that will bind successive parliaments. This is not allowed but the highest court in the land will be a European court which is obliged to work for the benefit of the EU so any attempt by future parliaments not to honour these commitments will likely be ruled unlawful by the EU. The Bill of Rights 1689 - a law still in effect today - says “That no foreign prince, person, prelate, state, or potentate hath, or ought to have any jurisdiction, power, superiority, pre-eminence, or authority ecclesiastical or spiritual, within this realm”. A “foreign prince” is a member of a royal family from another country that has settled in this country and been allowed to keep their title. A “prelate” is a high-ranking member of the clergy. A “potentate” is either the unelected head of a state or an “ambassador” performing negotiations on behalf of a large group. The EU cannot negotiate on behalf of England. No “ambassador” of the EU can have jurisdiction over England. To allow this to happen - which No Mandate Brown has just done by signing the not-a-constitution - is unlawful and nothing short of treason.

Yep its because no one cares and most dont even know what the treaty is or even heard of it , our society has been designed in such a way that most are asleep , vaccinations ,eating bad food while zombieing out in front of the programming machine being told how life should be , also watching or reading murdoch controled and owned media .
the people do literally have the power to stop the new world order , be it a cliche but we do have the power .
but how long and at what cost will it take for the people to stand up and be counted .

They shouldn't sign it anyway. The EU is a sham, and an idea originally conceived by the Nazi party.
Our handing over of power is not only a disgrace, but it's also illegal.
Our constitution (Contained in several documents such as the Magna Carta etc.) states that no government has the authority to hand over control of the UK to any foreign power that owes no allegiance to the Queen.

what a dammed coward that man is. who ever sign's it, it is not legal as far as I,m concerned. this is no democracy. this is complete dictatorship. we are being sold off illegally by a government proven to be liars and crooks. I quite honestly think that the whole thing will be signed on the back of lies and deception and against the wishes of the people. how can it be legal? why should we allow it? where is the leadership of this country? surely this government should be thrown out of office by now.

my god lord Elvis it really gives you hope for the future when you read some of these answers. no wonder this country is going down the tubes. now if you had asked a question that really mattered like what is the newest mobile phone, or computer game perhaps you would have done better. just how pathetic can some of these people get. and how sad for future generations.
