Blurs etc is correct that the Romans founded a city that they called Londinium HOWEVER the city or rather the site has always attracted humans evidence exist that once man & woman chose to inhabit the Isle of Endland they immediately staked a claim on London. Why? Fresh water & clams. Until man & progress buried them beneath layers of brick & concrete, several streams stragled from the north to the Thames providing both fresh water & a natural moat. And then there were clams in the area now buried beneath the London Docks. Neolithic folk harvested the tides for clams. There are several other reasons for favoring London for the Romans it was evident that London could control the major roads North and South as well as East to West while the Thames is one of the worlds best highways / waterways....
