Raking in the royalties from re-runs of Heartbeat and Harbour Lights on Sky!. You would think he'd make the effort for Phil Bellamy - it will be the end of an era, not just a series.

Hello Plank,
According to the TV/Movie bible (IMDb) Nick Berry has not made anything for TV or movies since 'In Deep' in 2001.
Of course he may be acting on the stage but I cannot find anything about this.
He has started his own production company 'Valentine Productions' which may account for his being 'busy'
The link for his company is:

All actors are busy, imagine you have worked hard making a film or series. then you get paid (lots) wouldn't you want the time to go and spend your "pennies" plus if he is in that much of a demand if he holds out a bit they will raise the price!! hes not silly

My first thought was it must be he is about to appear as Widow Twanky in a Panto but apparently he has a production company called Valentine Productions.

I guess that maybe he's doing other stuff? Writing? Producing? Just because he acts doesn't mean all the jobs he has have to be in front of the screen.
