You probably exhaled via a straw into a bromthymol sol.(Water mixed with the pH indicator, bromthymol) and it turned yellow, showing that you exhaled CO2.
Here's what happened: Water + CO2 (that you exhaled) produced
a weak acid (carbonic acid, H2CO3). This acid lowered the pH of the solution and the bromthymol indicated this by turning yellow.

are you asking one or two questions? there are a lot of things that can change a solutions pH and a lot of factors that can affect respiration and you didn't mention in which way but anyway...

if respiration is the reason for the change in pH then bromothymol blue should go yellow-green as the realease of carbon dioxide makes the solution more acidic.
