I think that some haidresser can use vegetable dyes. I was very careful about what products i used during pregnancy. I suppose it comes down to personal choice. Talk to your doctor and hairdresser.

It's a risk. Some people are allergic to hair dye and that's why you are meant to have a strand test.
Your baby doesn't just have your DNA so the blend of your DNA and the father's DNA may *possibly* mean that your unborn child is allergic to some of the chemicals. You can't do a strand test on your baby!
They may not be fazed by it at all; they may be slightly allergic and just be uncomfortable for a while. OR your baby might be very allergic and that would be bad... Especially so early on in the pregnancy;
Have you seen pictures of people who have adverse reactions to the dyes? It's not pretty; they get sores and scabs and swell up alarmingly...
Now while this is NOT a common reaction, you have to judge how likely it is and decide how much of a risk it is for you and whether you want to chance it.
Apparently the darker the hair dye is, the more nasty chemicals it has in it so that might be a factor too.
Personally I wouldn't risk anything; my sister has just had a baby and didn't eat soft cheese, pate, peanuts etc.
Someone said to her that it was really unlikely anything bad would happen so why not just eat them and her reply was "Why risk it? It's only 9 months out of my life and I want to give my baby every chance possible."
Another way of thinking about it is this... Would you dye your new born baby's hair?

if its at the salon not a problem. Make sure they use a quality product that you have not shown to have a reaction to before.
Don't do a home dye job and don't use products you haven't used before.
I always get my hair done pregnant or not. Its a common myth that it can affect a baby and its not true if done right. Your not swallowing it so why would it be bad for an unborn baby? My hairdresser recently had a baby and did her hair (obviously!) so she knows if you can or can't.
best of luck and enjoy the pampering!

yes it sould be fine, tell the stylist that you are pregnant as your hair can change in condition during pregnancy and she may be able to put you near a window/door of other ventilated area so you dont breathe in too many fumes. i dye my hair regularly at home and when i first fell pregnant i looked up about dyeing your hair during pregnancy and its fine as long as you are in a well ventilated room and dont do it too often.

I was told not to dye my hair when i was pregnant. Everything you put on your skin, hair and into your body will make it's way to your baby in your womb. The hair dye could be dangerous to your child. I reccomend talking to your GP

i wouldnt risk it for the sake of my baby. your head is covered in pores which soak up the chemicals from whatever you put on your hair. I didn't even use mousses when i was pregnant.
