for some of the carry on in News and Events? There is nothing we can do to stop it, except to avoid answering these posts at all. Even the strongest defensive reply is feeding these people with the attention they crave because their lives are lacking. I pity them in a way. It is a mental health issue with these poor souls who enjoy a vendetta, and all I can suggest is they examine their need to do this and control it before it spills over into the rest of their lives. It is far better to contribute to this forum in an amusing ar intelligent way than to bang on about other people. It earns respect if you can hold an opinion and take part. If opinions differ, it doesn't matter.Debate is for people who care about things, it doesn't matter what it's about, horses for courses. Respect is far more rewarding than notoriety. Does anyone agree with me please?

Back you 100% on that. Some people are taking it too far.

There are some on News and Events that will debate (as far as it is agreeable with them) but will spit their venom when someone happens to step onto their toes - this seems to occur from those that are well known and respected. It appears these people think way too highly of themselves and would rather spit their offensive language than discuss an open issue.
Respect is a two way thing.

I don't like the Leary, belligerent tone (belligerence is a nono in the community guidelines) of some posts, some people have no idea how to express themselves.
I find myself shaking my head at comments like "the PC police" and the like, and people objecting to getting violations for "just expressing their opinion".
Sad thing is many posts violate the guidelines when there is nothing wrong with the actual opinion or the information they contain, just the agressive, insulting or childish manner with which they are expressed.

I do agree re childish, immature, unbalanced etc., but also wonder if some do not post Qs just to provoke debate, or test out people's feelings.

Yes, disrespect, abuse and rudeness is unnecessary and immature.
We should have a thumbs up - agree, thumbs down - disagree and big 'dumb thumb' - stupid/rude and if you get too many of these your account should be removed!

It allows the "sick" to get it out of their systems. Its safer than letting them mull over their hang ups.
