anything between 35.5-37.5 is a normal body temperature for anyone, young or old.

Once the temperature reaches 37.5 degrees and above its considered to be a fever. The higher the temp does not always mean a more servere infection/illness so don't be terribly worried until you see a doctor.

Always take a sick baby especially one with a temp over 37.5 to a doctor straight away. You can give baby paracetamol from 1mth of age to relieve pain and fever.

(in farenheit its approx 95.9 - 99.5, anything over 100 is a fever so take to the doctor)

EDIT : oh by the way, my digital thermometer that you hold in the armpit says to add .5 degrees to the temperature reading as its not as accurate as say an ear or rectal reading. So if an armpit reading says 37.3 its more like 37.8 and so on.....
I have tested this and our ear thermometer (like the ones the doctors use) was always about .5 more than the armpit reading.

Normal Temperature For A Baby

The same as an adults about 37 degrees centigrade.
Babies are more at risk of developing fevers after infections as they cannot regulate temperature as well as adults. They are also more at risk of hypothermia due to their smaller body size. The current thinking is babies should be kept in a room of about 18 degrees centigrade and not wrapped too warmly indoors to reduce the risk of cot death.
